Boys Gymnastics Team

Come be a part of our growing boys gymnastics team!  Since 2011 Le Studio has had a competitive boys team. Our team is building in it ability and enjoys a great mix of fun and competitive spirit.  As one of just 3 boys teams in Vermont in 2014 Le Studio did a great job in helping to represent the sport of men’s gymnastics in the state.

Most parents and boys agree that the gymnastic training they receive at Le Studio helps them to be better all around athletes in any other sport in addition to learning the special skills of gymnastics.

Le Studio Competitive Team Philosophy

Le Studio sets a high priority on rewarding the effort and accomplishment of our gymnasts by providing them with an opportunity to participate in terrific competitions. We are a competitive gymnastics team. We measure our effort and progress by going on the competition floor to compete. We understand and agree that winning isn’t the most important thing we do, striving for excellence and trying to be our personal best is.

Le Studio believes in creating a fun, motivating and positive environment for athletes to learn gymnastics to their fullest potential. We feel strongly it is not the natural ability or “talent” of the child that is important, but the desire of the child to be involved in the sport of gymnastics and a willingness to put forth 100% effort to achieve that goal. We stress sportsmanship, dedication and an aggressive work ethic.  We also understand a child must enjoy the sport of gymnastics so that they can fully appreciate the benefits of participation. Gymnastics is a fantastic sport with many benefits for the body, mind and spirit. The Le Studio Team Program‘s goal is for every competing gymnast to reach their individual potential no matter what skill level they attain.

Competitive Team Information:

The Le Studio team participates in USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic program.

Gymnasts compete at a level appropriate to their skill.  There are 10 levels, 1 being the easiest, and 10 being the most difficult.  Levels 1, 2, and 3  are used as ‘developmental’ and are not competitive.  Levels 4,  5, and 6 have Compulsory routines.  Each gymnast in these levels will perform exactly the same skills and routines as the other gymnasts at that level.  However each event does have several specified bonus variations that can be added, so routines may appear slightly different.  Levels 7 – 10 have Optional routines, meaning that each gymnast can have a different routine, however there are specific ‘technical sequences’ required on each event.

At Le Studio most boys with no prior experience will begin in recreational classes for a year or two before joining the competitive team at Level 4.  This time is necessary to build up the strength and skills for even this basic level of competition.  After all, year after year, men’s gymnastics is ranked as the most difficult sport.   Once in the JO program athletes can expect to move sequentially up through the levels of competition.  While very talented gymnasts may move up at a rate of one level per year, it is expected in boys gymnastics to stay at a given level for 2 or more years.  Boys with previous competitive experience can typically join the team at the level they were competing.  Boys with non-competitive recreational gymnastics experience, may be invited to join the team provided they have the needed skills.
